I’m no bible thumper, and hardly go to church, but I know a morally bankrupt philosophy when I see one. BO and the democrats seduce and corrupt others by making them believe that it is OK to live off the fruits of another’s labor. I don’t have much, but what I have is mine. I earned it.
It seems that the things that FDR did and their true effect on the economy is up for debate. However, we know the things that Ronald Reagan did to improve the economy worked: Cut spending, cut taxes, and ease regulation. Building or repairing a bridge can not come close to having the effect on the economy as that of encouraging business and investment. Once that bridge building or repair is over, so is its spur to the economy. Commercial property, for example, has intrinsic value that almost always increases, and can be capitalized, and can be resold many times. Commercial property generates income for the owner that may be reinvested. Commercial property provides space and location for other economic activity to take place.
Any strategy for economic recovery that does not open the ANWR to oil extraction and the Gulf of Mexico for natural gas extraction, and fast track construction of at least 10 new nuclear power plants is not a serious one. Smart grids with solar and wind are absurdly proposed to supply the energy needs of America. Not a word about hydrogen power. Is it because GW Bush would be considered the father of the green economy if hydrogen technology proves? Businesses can not make plans or investments with energy prices and supplies in doubt. This does not mean we abandon principles of conservation, preservation, best available environmental technology, and best environmental management practices.
